IEP Advocate Academy™ is a multilevel online learning program for parents, educators, and aspiring educational advocates. Choose the learning pathway that matches your goals—whether you want to become a stronger advocate for your own child or build the knowledge and practical skills needed to support other families.Participants complete two self-paced, recorded Learning Studios each week and may attend weekly live virtual office hours for questions, discussion, and instructor support.
Choose Your Path
Parents do not need to complete all three levels. Level I may be taken as a stand-alone program, while Level II offers additional support for those seeking more advanced advocacy knowledge. Level III is designed specifically for participants pursuing professional advocacy practice.

Begin with Level I to understand the special education process, your child’s IEP, evaluations, services, and your role as an equal member of the Team. Continue to Level II when you are ready to strengthen your strategy, analyze more complex concerns, and navigate challenging situations with greater confidence.

More Than a Course: Your Advocacy Resource Vault
IEP Advocate Academy™ participants receive access to a growing Resource Vault filled with practical tools designed to make special education information easier to understand and apply.
Instead of simply learning about the IEP process, participants leave with resources they can return to before meetings, while reviewing records, when communicating with school teams, and as new educational concerns arise.

Level II: Advanced Advocacy Academy™
Move from understanding to strategy.
Develop stronger analytical and advocacy skills for reviewing records, identifying concerns, preparing for meetings, communicating strategically, and navigating more complex educational situations.
Best for: Parents facing complex concerns and participants seeking advanced advocacy knowledge.
Level III: Professional Advocate Academy™
Develop your professional advocacy practice.
Learn how to approach advocacy cases with structure, professionalism, sound judgment, and student-centered strategy. Participants will explore case analysis, professional communication, ethical practice, service delivery, documentation, and sustainable advocacy systems.
Best for: Aspiring and developing educational advocates who have completed Levels I and II.
Beyond the Academy: Professional Development Opportunities
Participants who successfully complete all three levels of IEP Advocate Academy™ may be eligible to apply for additional training and a professional interview with L&F Educational Associates.
Select graduates who demonstrate strong knowledge, professionalism, ethical judgment, communication skills, and alignment with L&F’s student-centered approach may be considered for inclusion among independent advocates shared with L&F’s collaborative partners as potential vetted resources.
Completion of the Academy does not guarantee an interview, additional training, employment, partnership, endorsement, or client referrals. Any additional opportunity is selective and may include further application requirements, work samples, references, training, observation, or competency review.Program Details

Level I: Foundations Academy™
Best for: Parents, caregivers, educators, and beginning advocates who want to build a strong understanding of the special education process.
Upcoming cohort: New cohorts begin on the first of each month and run for four weeks
Tuition: $200
Format: 8 Learning Studios over 4 weeks
Live Office Hours: Weekly virtual office hours, discussion support, and email access. Participants who cannot attend a scheduled office hour may submit questions in advance.
Weekly Learning Schedule: Two Learning Studios per week
Weekly commitment: Approximately 1-3 hours per week, including instruction and independent application
Recordings: Participants receive access to recorded instruction and downloadable course materials for six months from their enrollment date.
Prerequisite: None

Best for: Parents navigating more complex concerns and participants who want to strengthen their analytical, communication, and strategic advocacy skills.

Tuition: $250
Format: 8 Learning Studios over 4 weeks
Live Office Hours: Weekly virtual office hours, discussion support, and email access. Participants who cannot attend a scheduled office hour may submit questions in advance.
Weekly Learning Schedule: Two Learning Studios per week
Weekly commitment: Approximately 1-3 hours per week, including instruction and independent application
Recordings: Participants receive access to recorded instruction and downloadable course materials for six months from their enrollment date.
Prerequisite: Level I: Foundations Academy™

Best for: Aspiring and developing educational advocates who want to build the knowledge, judgment, systems, and applied skills required for professional advocacy practice.

Tuition: $350
Format: 8 Learning Studios over 4 weeks
Live Office Hours: Weekly virtual office hours, discussion support, and email access. Participants who cannot attend a scheduled office hour may submit questions in advance.
Weekly Learning Schedule: Two Learning Studios per week
Weekly commitment: Approximately 2-4 hours per week, including instruction and independent application
Recordings: Participants receive access to recorded instruction and downloadable course materials for six months from their enrollment date.
Prerequisite: Level I: Foundations Academy™, Level II: Advanced Advocacy Academy™

Full payment is required to confirm enrollment.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Please review the complete cancellation and refund policy before enrolling.
Cancellations submitted in writing at least 14 days before the program begins are eligible for a refund, less a nonrefundable registration fee. Cancellations received after that date are nonrefundable. If L&F Educational Associates cancels a cohort, participants may transfer their enrollment or receive a full refund.
Because participants may receive immediate access to proprietary digital materials, different refund terms may apply once those materials have been accessed or downloaded.

Important Program Information
IEP Advocate Academy™ includes educational instruction and general advocacy information. Participation does not create an advocate-client or attorney-client relationship and is not a substitute for legal advice regarding an individual student or situation.
Participants who fulfill the applicable requirements receive a certificate of completion for each level. Certificates recognize completion of the program and do not constitute state licensure, legal authorization, employment eligibility, or independent professional certification.
Program content addresses federal special education principles and broadly applicable advocacy practices. Because laws, regulations, procedures, and professional requirements may differ by state, participants are responsible for reviewing the requirements applicable in their own location.

Meet the Instructor
Kristen Flannery, M.Ed.
Kristen Flannery is the founder of L&F Educational Associates, LLC, a Massachusetts-based special education advocacy and consulting company supporting families, educators, organizations, and educational agencies in Massachusetts and nationwide.
Kristen is a licensed special educator with over a decade of educational experience and has supported hundreds of families through the special education process.
